Sweet Chestnut Blight

A new pest to look out for on sweet chestnut (Castanea).

All symptoms on infected trees occur above ground. Castenea parasitica attacks the bark and enters through fissures or wounds.

The fungus can spread rapidly through the bark.

Masses of yellow-orange pustules the size of pin heads develop on infected bark.
